Anticipated VR Adventure ‘Behemoth’ Delayed Until Late 2024

Skydance Interactive, the studio behind The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, revealed their next VR game Behemoth is being delayed by a year, now slated to arrive on all major headsets in late 2024.

The studio confirmed the delay with UploadVR, also noting that the game now has a new name: Skydance’s Behemoth.

First revealed at Meta Connect 2022 this time last year, the upcoming VR adventure puts you in what the studio calls a “plague-ravished wasteland of a once glorious empire, where its inhabitants are driven mad and cities have fallen to ruin.” In the story-driven campaign, you combat towering giants called Behemoths.

The studio also released a single work-in-progress image of the game (above), which more clearly shows one of the titular behemoths.

Behemoth is coming to Quest (presumably 2/3/Pro), PSVR 2, and PC VR sometime in late 2024. Meanwhile, we’re curious to see just how gameplay stacks up to the studio’s other skull-splitting adventure, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners.

Check out the cinematic trailer below, released in late 2022.

Stealth-action Game ‘Arashi: Castles of Sin’ Coming to All Major VR Headsets This Fall in ‘Final Cut’

Skydance Interactive announced during UploadVR’s Summer Showcase that the award-winning stealth-action VR game Arashi: Castles of Sin (2021) is finally making its way to major VR headsets this fall.

Developer by Endeavor One, Arashi: Castles of Sin is slated to bring its visceral melee combat to Quest 2, Quest 3, PSVR 2, and PC VR headsets for the first time.

Initially released exclusively on PSVR back in 2021, the studios say we can expect from the new ‘Final Cut’ version “improved visuals, updated enemy and boss behavior, revamped controls, and tons of additional quality-of-life features.”

Here’s how Endeavor One describes the action:

In Arashi: Castles of Sin – Final Cut, you’ll step into the shoes of deadly shinobi assassin Kenshiro and embark on a quest for justice, becoming one with the shadows as the last surviving member of House Arashi. This is your chance to experience feudal Japan in an era where the country is in chaos as the Six Oni of Iga have seized castles across the country, carving a bloody path of terror in their wake.

The game features a pretty wide assortment of weapons, tools, and techniques, all of which help you infiltrate conquered castles and outwit your enemies as you hunt down each Oni, the studio says.

Arashi: Castles of Sin – Final Cut is slated to arrive on the PSVR 2, PC VR and Quest platform sometime this fall. We’ll be keeping our eyes on the game’s new Twitter profile for more updates as they arrive.

‘The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners 2’ Coming to PSVR 2 & PC VR in March, Original Gets Free PSVR 2 Upgrade

Skydance Interactive announced the sequel to The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, Chapter 2: Retribution, is leaving timed Quest exclusivity soon. You can also now add the original game to the list of PSVR titles getting a free PSVR 2 upgrade.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners 2 is simultaneously launching on SteamVR and PSVR 2 on March 21st, priced at $40. You can now wishlist it on Steam and pre-order for PSVR 2.

Although not a launch day title (see the full list here), the studio says players across Quest, PC VR and PSVR 2 will be able to transfer their save data between platforms.

Additionally, Skydance says owners of Chapter 2: Retribution across Meta, Pico, PSVR 2 and PC VR will receive an in-game weapon called ‘The Orphan’ once the upcoming versions release in March.

Moreover, if you already own The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners on the original PSVR, the studio is also tossing out a free PSVR 2 upgrade on March 21st, 2023 too. We’ve already added it to our growing list of games getting free PSVR 2 upgrades.

In the meantime, a bona fide The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners demo is coming to the Meta Quest Store, which includes access to the first 30 minutes of gameplay for free, available from now until February 6th.

On Quest, the studio is currently pitching a bundle containing The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and the sequel Chapter 2: Retribution for $59.99. The offer is already live and goes to February 6th.

We had mixed feelings about the sequel when it launched on Quest in December. At the time, it seemed woefully undercooked—so much so we didn’t even get a chance to review it due to game-breaking bugs. Since then, the studio has released several major updates to address important things such as stability issues and the game’s visuals.

At the time of this writing Chapter 2: Retribution on Quest sits at a user rating of [3.75/5], garnered from around 2,600 users. Paling in comparison, the original sits at a user rating of [4.6/5], garnered from over 18,000 users.

New ‘Behemoth’ Trailer Offers a Glimpse into Immersive VR Combat, Coming to All Major Headsets Late 2023

Skydance Interactive, the studio behind popular zombie shooter The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, revealed Behemoth back in October during Connect, showcasing a very brief teaser that left a lot to the imagination. Now the studio has released a longer cinematic trailer, which at least gives us a better idea of what the game will be all about.

At the Game Awards last night, Skydance Interactive dropped its first full-length trailer for Behemoth, an action RPG slated to release on all major headsets in late 2023.

Here’s how Skydance describes the new trailer:

“The cinematic trailer showcases Behemoth’s brutal yet tactical VR combat and breathtaking traversal gameplay as players conquer monolithic beings in a grim, unforgiving world.”

Granted, it’s a cinematic trailer with pre-rendered footage, so it’s probably not representative of actual gameplay. We’ve seen some pretty familiar combat mechanics elements in The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners though, albeit gussied up to appeal to the AAA crowd, so it’s likely we’ll see a lot of the basic interactions when gameplay is revealed at some point.

The studio also offered up some fresh info on what to expect from the story-driven game:

“In Behemoth, players will explore the plague-ravished wasteland of a once glorious empire, where its inhabitants are driven mad and cities have fallen to ruin. In glorious VR fashion, players’ bodies and minds will be tested as they combat towering colossal giants called Behemoths. Raw strength won’t be enough, however, as they must use various tools in their arsenal to defeat these gigantic creatures and the other nightmarish enemies that scour this brutal world in their quest for a possible cure.”

Behemoth is set to launch on Quest 2, PSVR 2, and PC VR sometime in late 2023. We’ll be keeping tabs on what promises to be another skull-splitting adventure from the makers of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners.
