Beat Saber continues to reel in top tracks for its now classic VR rhythm gameplay. The latest drop is the Rolling Stones Music Pack, bringing 11 of the game’s most classic rock tracks to date.

EDM not your style? Well Beat Saber has come a long way with its DLC music packs, which by now offer quite a bit of variety across 18 different albums. And today that selection gets a little bit wider with the release of the 19th music pack featuring the iconic classic rock group, The Rolling Stones.

Priced at $14 for the complete pack, or $2 per track, the Beat Saber Rolling Stones Music Pack includes the following tracks, including new songs from the group’s latest album:

Late to PSVR 2, ‘Beat Saber’ Continues to Dominate Most Downloaded Charts

Beat Saber, VR’s favorite block-slashing rhythm game, came to PlayStation VR 2 well past the headset’s February 2023 launch, coming to Sony’s latest VR headset in late May. And while Beat Saber topped the May charts within only one week of being available on PSVR 2, it seems the long-standing VR favorite is showing no signs of stopping.

In PlayStation’s June top downloads list, Beat Saber has made out as the top PSVR 2 download again. Here’s the full list, showing the charts across the US/Canada, Europe, and Japan.

Notably, PlayStation’s charts are based on PS Store purchases only, which means game upgrades or games bundled with hardware are not included. Beat Saber is one of those in a limited pool of games that offers a free PSVR 2 upgrade from the original PSVR version, so it seems new PSVR 2 users are jumping into the block-slashing action organically.

It’s no surprise Beat Saber has fared well on PSVR 2 for new players though, as by now the game is fairly synonymous as a great beginner’s title thanks to its ‘easy to play, hard to master’ gameplay in addition to not being nearly as involved as some VR games, many of which require some form of artificial locomotion.

Not only that, Meta-owned studio Beat Games has also wrangled a ton of music deals since the game’s 2018 launch to bring an extensive library of paid DLC to the game. This includes everything from legacy classics such as Queen, Kiss, and Lynyrd Skynyrd to current pop hits like The Weekend, Lizzo, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, and BTS to name a few.

With such a sustained performance, it’s likely Beat Saber will continue its reign on PSVR 2 for months to come.

‘Beat Saber’ Finally Comes to PSVR 2 as Free Upgrade, Queen Music Pack Released

We expected Beat Saber as a day-one title on PSVR 2 when the headset launched in February, but it seems Meta had different ideas. Better late than never though, as everyone’s favorite block-slashing rhythm game is now available on PSVR 2 as a free upgrade from the PSVR version, coming alongside a paid music pack featuring the ever-iconic band Queen.

The Queen music pack is available across all supported platforms, including Quest, PSVR/2, and PC VR headsets, priced at $14.

It includes the 11 tracks listed below:

New Quest 2 Bundle to Include ‘GOLF+’ & ‘Space Pirate Trainer’, Replacing ‘Beat Saber’ & ‘Resident Evil 4’

Didn’t get a Quest 2 this holiday season, which includes a free copy of Beat Saber and Resident Evil 4? Although the beat-slashing rhythm game and zombie-slaying classic aren’t part of the deal anymore, for a limited time new Quest 2 owners can nab both GOLF+ and Space Pirate Trainer DX.

Meta is including the two games as a bonus when you buy a new Meta Quest 2 between February 5th and June 3rd, 2023. New Quest 2 owners must activate their headsets by June 17th, 2023 and the offer must be redeemed within 14 days of device activation.

The deal represents $50 in content, which you can get either by buying a 156 or 256 version of Quest 2, priced at $400 and $500 direct from Meta.

GOLF+ ($30 value)

Rated by users as the most popular paid Quest 2 game in January by review count, GOLF+ offers up some serious driving and putting, letting you join friends for a round at both free courses and paid DLC premium courses, including Pebble Beach, Pinehurst No. 2, The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, and more.

Realism is the main focus: you can customize the contents of your golf bag with a ton of different irons as you take on the game’s many courses, either solo in online multiplayer. As the PGA Tour’s official VR golf game, more courses are also coming down the pipeline in February, including THE PLAYERS Championship and the WM Phoenix Open.

Space Pirate Trainer DX ($20 value)

Space Pirate Trainer DX has been the go-to wave shooter since the early days of VR, but don’t let its age fool you: it’s still one of the slickest sci-fi shooting games around, feeling like a mix of Space Invaders and some sort of Mandalorian combat simulator from a galaxy far far away.

While primarily a single-player game, if you have the physical space and a Quest 2-owning friend, you can also play Space Pirate Arena, which basically gives you a 1v1 all-out battle similar to how you might play paintball or airsoft, but in VR.

Meta is Bringing One of Its Most Popular VR Games to PSVR 2

Who would have thought one VR’s most popular games was coming to Sony’s next-gen VR headset? Probably everyone, but now the company has confirmed it is indeed bringing Beat Saber to PSVR 2.

Announced during Sony’s CES 2023 keynote, Beat Saber is said to be “in development” for PSVR 2, a game created by the Meta-owned studio Beat Games.

There’s a few more questions still in need of answering between now and PSVR 2’s February 22nd launch though—one in particular: is Meta going to offer PSVR 2 support as a free upgrade to owners of the game on PSVR? Sony is mum on the subject for now, with more information promised sometime in “the near future.”

There’s a growing list of games getting free PSVR 2 upgrades, and we’d love to see the block-slashing rhythm game among them. After all, backwards compatibility isn’t a thing with PSVR 2…

Launched in 2018 on Rift, SteamVR, and PSVR, Beat Saber almost immediately became the medium’s most recognizable title, and it’s still chugging years later. It regularly tops PSVR’s most downloaded charts, and was even in the most recent list of top-selling VR games on Steam—a testament to its continued strength across all VR platforms.

It would make a good deal of sense that it will indeed come as a free upgrade, as Beat Saber’s revenue model is very much tied to its continuous paid DLC releases, which regularly offer up music packs from some of the world’s leading pop artists. Asking a PSVR owner to buy a base game and hundreds of dollars of DLC they already own would be a pretty dicey maneuver to say the least.

In any case, it appears Meta is sticking with its promise to make sure Beat Saber persists as VR’s premier cross-platform title, though there’s no telling whether they charged Sony a pretty penny to make it happen.

‘Beat Saber’ Rock Mixtape Brings Nirvana, The White Stripes, KISS & More

If you were waiting for Beat Saber to finally get the classic and alternative rock DLC it’s deserved since it first launched with an EDM-heavy music catalogue in 2018, the wait is over with the block-slashing rhythm game’s first Rock Mixtape.

The Rock Mixtape is now available across all supported headsets, which includes Quest 2, SteamVR headsets, and PSVR, priced at $11 for the full eight-song music pack.

The tracklist hits some of the most influential classic and alternative rock music, including:

Steppenwolf — Born To Be Wild
Survivor — Eye of the Tiger
KISS — I Was Made For Lovin’ You
Lynyrd Skynyrd — Free Bird
The White Stripes — Seven Nation Army
Nirvana — Smells Like Teen Spirit

Meta-owned developer Beat Games also included custom environments for several of the trackins, including lighting effects and color schemes in Seven Nation Army inspired by its iconic 2003 music video.

Eye of the Tiger’s environment was designed in the style of a FitBeat-style obstacle level, which ought to get your heartrate up. Speaking of heartrates, Free Bird is now the game’s longest song at nine minutes, throwing over 3,000 notes at you for some heavy slicing action.

The Rock Mixtape follows a steady stream of high-profile music, such as packs from Lizzo, Skrillex, BTS, Green Day, Timbaland, Linkin Park, Imagine Dragons, and a host of others in the Interscope Music Pack, which features tracks from Kendrick Lamar, OneRepublic, Limp Bizkit, and Maroon 5.
